Commencement 2013 news summary
Commencement Ticket Distribution
Tickets are required to attend the Commencement ceremony in the Ross Sports Center. Tickets are not required for the Baccalaureate Mass or to view both of the live broadcasts of these ceremonies in the McCarthy Arts Center. Seniors will be able to pick up five (5) commencement tickets during senior week. The following times and locations have been set:
Thursday, May 9: 10:30 am - 1:00 pm in Alliot Lobby; 1:00 - 4:00 pm in the Student Life Office
Friday, May 10: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 - 4:00 pm in the Student Life Office
Saturday, May 11: 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm in Alliot Lobby
Sunday, May 12: 8:30 am - 10:00 am at the Bookstore, Alliot Student Center
Master candidates can pick up tickets from their program administrative assistant.
Please note that tickets are also required for children.

Additional Viewing Areas
The graduation ceremony and Baccalaurete Mass will be broadcast live on closed-circuit in McCarthy Arts Center and on the campus cable channel. McCarthy Arts Center is air-conditioned and provides several hundred additional seats in which tickets are not required. In addition, the ceremony can be seen LIVE on vpt.org or go to the College web site www.smcvt.edu to find the link. Please visit the site prior to the ceremony to test your system compatibility.
Traffic Flow
To avoid the traffic backup on Route 15, we encourage using both entrances to the College. Once the paved lots are full (by 9:00 AM), vehicles are parked on the athletic field in the central portion of campus. Guests may be dropped off by the main entrance of the Tarrant Recreation Center. To maintain traffic flow, please do not stop on campus road to drop off passengers. Doors open at 8:30 AM.
The procession will begin at 9:50 AM. All guests are encouraged to be seated at that time.
Moving Right Along
The entire Saint Michael's community hopes the Commencement ceremonies will provide memories of a lifetime. We will attempt to keep things moving by starting on time and by providing many people who can direct you and answer your questions. Please assist us by helping the groups move into the halls in a timely manner so we can start on time!
Special Needs Seating
Our security and special events staff are pleased to direct our handicapped guests to a special section. We ask that you plan for one family member sitting in that section as well. Usually, however, there is enough space for the entire group to sit together. We ask that you wait until just before the event to assemble so that we are sure all of the wheelchairs have space. The staff will facilitate you by moving chairs if necessary. Please plan to arrive early. Contact Mark Litchfield, mlitchfield@smcvt.edu in Special Events for more information.
Commencement Photographs
GradImages is the official photographer for our Commencement. Proofs will be sent to your home and via email within three to five days after graduation. Pictures can be ordered online, by phone or by mail. GradImages® can be contacted at 800-261-2476 or via their website at www.gradimages.com.
Commencement DVD
Please contact the campus store if you are interested in purchasing a DVD of the graduation ceremony. Their toll free telephone number is 866.213.0727.
Residence Hall Request
In order to help our residence hall and physical plant staff prepare for summer occupancy, all rooms should be cleared of student belongings by 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
