The default due dates for materials checked out to faculty members are 6 months for circulating books, 28 days for browsing books, 7 days for DVDs and other audiovisual media, and 3 days for cameras, laptop computers, and video equipment and projectors. Due dates for interlibrary loans are set by the lending institution.
When faculty need to use DVDs or other audiovisual media in courses for more than 7 days, they can request an extended due date at the time of checkout. Extended due dates are not available for items for personal use.
Faculty are encouraged to place DVDs and VHS tapes on reserve in advance to ensure their availability when they are needed. They may also wish to place those items on reserve after viewing if they would like for their students to have access to them.
Faculty members can check due dates and renew SMC library items online via My Library Account, by calling the circulation desk, or in person.
Renewal of interlibrary loan items is subject to approval by the lending institution. ILL renewals can be requested via My Library Account or by contacting the ILL office.
Overdue fines of $1 per day apply to DVDs, videotapes, and interlibrary loans. Fines of $5 per day apply to equipment. If total fines exceed $75, borrowing privileges will be suspended.
