ERIC is the Educational Resources Information Center--a federally funded, nationwide network designed to provide you with ready access to education literature. The database contains more than 1.2 million records dating back to 1966.

Going beyond keyword searching--using the Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors
Find and use ERIC descriptors
Every record in ERIC is indexed with subject terms called descriptors. ERIC descriptors are listed in The Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors. The thesaurus is available online from the database. There are also print copies available in the reference section, call number: REF Z695.1.E3 T49.
Example: adolescents, social skills
Descriptors come from a controlled vocabulary that helps you find the valid subject headings for your search terms. The thesausus also presents a hierarchy of the term that permits searching various levels--broader, narrower, and related. For example:

ProQuest Education Journals
Contains more than 760 education publications, including more than 600 of the titles in full text. Coverage is 1991-present.
Education Research Complete
Full text for more than 1060 education journals, including full text for more than 100 books and monographs. Coverage includes topics in all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing.
Off Campus Access
You can access most of the library's online resources from off campus using your MikeNet account. Click on the database or journal you would like to use and you will be prompted for your MikeNet username and password. You will then be able to use almost any resource on the library website for up to an hour, at which point you may be prompted to log in again.
