First Step - Evaluate the Information

What is "it" - book, periodical article, reference source, newspaper, blog, wiki, "gray literature", masters thesis, correspondence, statistics, etc

Authority
Bias/Purpose
Currency
Accurracy
Coverage/Relevance

Scholarly vs Popular
  - How many times cited?
  - Journal Ranking

Primary vs Secondary

Second Step -   Evaluate your source by the relevant critereia listed above.  A book source will be evaluated differently than a journal article for example.

Third Step - Write the abstract based on the most important criteria.  Not everything needs to be included in an annotation.  The most important consideration is the relevancy and value of the source as it reflects on your search topic.  How will the source help you research your topic?
