Discussion Series

In early 2007 the Economics Department launched the Current Issues in Economics discussion series, coordinated by Dr. Patrick Walsh. The goal of these discussions is to bring economics out of the classroom, to engage students, faculty and staff who we would otherwise not reach, and to answer questions about economic topics that "everyone is wondering about."

The following are from a sampling of the discussions, and include selected and assessable readings under each topic.

Each discussion features at least two panelists, who have been drawn from the Economics, Political Science, History, and Business departments. Some of these discussions have taken the form of a debate, while others merely present complementary perspectives on an issue.

We look forward to providing discussions on new economic issues as they arise.
