Application Requirements

All International Applicants to any program are required to submit:

Copy of Passport

Send the photo page of your valid passport to applysmc@smcvt.edu.

Financial Certification

To receive a student visa you must provide Financial Certification that proves you have access to the necessary funding to pay for your first year of university. This is also called the "I-20 amount". Financial Certification may include an official letter from a bank or a bank statement, as well as an affidavit of support if the bank account belongs to anyone besides you or your immediate family. The documents from the bank must be less than 90 days old.

To determine an approximate I-20 amount, add $2,000 for books and personal expenses to the cost of your program's tuition and room & board. Undergraduate students should subtract from this amount any scholarship that has been awarded.

You will receive your official I-20 Amount upon receipt of your acceptance letter.

For tuition information, visit our Tuition and Calendar page.

Most International Applicants, regardless of the program, are required to submit:

English-Language Test Scores

If English is not your native language, you must provide official scores of TOEFL, IELTS or another suitable test. If you score below 79/6.5 on the ibTOEFL/IELTS, you will be considered for conditional admission and enrolled in our Pathway Program.

Saint Michael's accepts results from the TOEFL, IELTS, Pearsons, and other English assessment tests. The code for sending TOEFL results to Saint Michael's College is 3757.

Students who have completed upper-level English of an IB Program, their English-language A-levels, or have spent a minimum of two years in a US high-school may be exempt from having to provide TOEFL/IELTS results. Contact applysmc@smcvt.edu for more information.

Applicants to the Intensive English Program (IEP) are not required to submit English-Language Test Scores.

Transcripts

We require an official copy of secondary school transcripts from undergraduate applicants. Transfer students--those who have completed one or more semesters at university--must provide university transcripts as well.

Applicants to the Undergraduate Degree Program are encouraged submit (especially if they wish to be considered for a scholarship):
