Short-Term Studies + Non-Degree Programs

International students are welcome to study at Saint Michael's for periods of just one semester, or one year.

Program Options:

Full Academic Program: Study up to four courses of your choice in any subject.
Academic English: For students who plan to attend a US university and need to improve their English. Advanced English courses offered along with academic content courses. Full credit programs are available.
Intensive English: For students who wish to improve their English-level. Five levels offered.

Students in Short-Term Programs at Saint Michael's register for 12-16 credits each semester. That's typically 3 or 4 courses

Students who score a 550 on the paper-based TOEFL (PBT) or a 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (IBT), are eligible to study in the Undergraduate Program.

Students who score 510-549 on the paper-based TOEFL (PBT) or a 64-78 on the internet-based TOEFL (IBT), will be placed in the 2nd Level of the Academic English Progam (AEP2).

In the AEP2 a student will have 2 content courses and 2 courses in Academic English (advanced writing, study skills).

Students who score 480-510 on the paper-based TOEFL (PBT) or 54-64 on the internet-based TOEFL (IBT), will be placed into Academic English Program: Level 1 (AEP1).

In the AEP1 a student will take 3 advanced English courses and one content course.

Students who score below 480 on the paper-based TOEFL (IBT) or 53 on the internet-based TOEFL (IBT) will be placed in the Intensive English Program (IEP).

There are 5 levels of the IEP.

Students who choose not to take an English proficiency exam will be placed in the Intensive English Program (IEP) and will be tested upon arrival.
