Bombino plays "Music for the Soul" View All Events Saint Michael's College presents Internationally Renowned Tuareg musician Bombino playing "Music for the Soul" at 6:30 PM in the McCarthy Arts Center. Omara "Bombino" Moctar was born in 1980 in Niger in an encampment of nomdic Tauregs of the Ifoghas tribe. Raised a Muslim, Bombino was taught to consider honor, dignity and generosity as principles of life. Bombino offers a rare mix of pop, old world trance music and Taureg music from Niger. See him on CNN, which says, "His almost mystic sound evokes the searing heat, the blustery wind and the shimmering horizon of the Sahel, combining music of the ages with riffs of Western blues and rock."
