Trevor Weston, acclaimed African-American composer speaking on "Music and Mysticism"

trevor weston

In this highly personal presentation, Trevor Weston, a prominent African-American composer, explores how music encourages listeners to lose themselves in a dramatic journey through time and to imagine the unknown as a positive experience. Trevor Weston began his musical training as a choirboy at St. Thomas Choir School in New York City. He attended Tufts University and completed his graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley where he was awarded the prestigious George Ladd Prix de Paris, which allowed him to live in Paris for two years. Described as having "a refreshingly imaginative musical personality" by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Weston has written music that has been performed in Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in South Carolina, and in The Netherlands, France, Canada, and Hungary.
