Saint Michael’s College with BarnArts Center for the Arts
presents a concert of Brahms vocal works by Cantare Con Spirito at 4 p.m. in the McCarthy Arts Center Recital Hall. Cantare Con Spirito was born this winter when the BarnArts Center Artistic Director Jarvis Green heard a program of Brahms’ quartets on VPR coinciding with an article he’d read that day about general unfamiliarity among youth with classical music. He networked with music colleagues in Maine, Boston and New York to form a group “to sing the music we love with the people we love in the places we love.” Green’s background is in sacred and American genres, and he will sing baritone/bass for the concert. Joining him are Luette Saul of Pomfret, VT, soprano, Tesia Kwarteng of New York City, mezzo soprano, Marco Jordao of Boston, tenor, and Mark Rossnagel of Maine, piano.
