Your study abroad experience is not an isolated activity that has a definite beginning and end. Instead, study abroad is a life-changing event that continues to develop and evolve long after you have returned home. You will find yourself changed, but perhaps not in the same ways as your own culture and friends. Your academic and personal goals may be different and you may now relate more to international students on campus than you had before.
To help you ease your transition back to life at Saint Michael's and Vermont, we have a variety of events and opportunities for you to enjoy:
Returnee Reception and Dinner
Attend this event and discuss your experiences with other returning students while enjoying dinner and friendly conversation.
Study Abroad Career Workshop
Learn how to market your experiences on your resume and in interviews for jobs or graduate school.
Share your experiences with others. Participate and educate prospective students about study abroad opportunities at events such as:
- Study Abroad Fair
- Returnee Panels
- Information Tables
Seek out international students on campus. Speak a new language, learn about a different culture, enjoy the company of a new friend.
Please complete this evaluation so we can better serve future students. Your feedback is important to us!
Re-Entry Reflection and Support
Consider taking one of the following courses upon return to SMC:
- EN321: Writing the Study Abroad Experience (Professor Kathie Baluntansky)
- MJD363: Study Abroad Re-entry - Travel, Writing and the International Experience (Professor Kimberly Sultze)
Order a beautifully designed sash, made in the flag colors of the country in which you studied abroad. The sash (available for purchase) is worn over your graduation robe and gives you recognition for your study abroad experience while at Saint Michael's College.
