Ms. Floyd was, from 2010 to the present, Social Service Program Coordinator & Educator for Transitional Services for Youth and Families, in Burlington.

Ms. Floyd will focus on working with student leaders in MOVE and will oversee coordination and implementation of the college's Extended Service Program.

"I saw MOVE as home, and was intrigued when I heard of this position," Ms. Floyd said. "I wanted to be back at Saint Michael's College working with college students; I wanted to do beautiful hands-on social justice work." In the Extended Service Program, "we work with people, not for people."

Ms. Floyd earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Michael's in 2006 majoring in Spanish and minoring in Global Studies, with a 3.4 overall GPA.

She was hired as Volunteer Coordinator & AmeriCorps Program Director at the La Puente Home from 2008-09, where she also recruited and managed 15 full-time AmeriCorps volunteers. She worked closely with the migrant farm-worker population in the area, focusing on homelessness outreach and prevention. "This was my first experience," she said, "working with a lot of people with a lot of need."

In moving back to Vermont, Ms. Floyd took a position as live-in house adviser and work crew leader at Spring Lake Ranch in Cuttingsville, Vermont, 2009-2010. There she worked with a population dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues.

From the summer of 2010 to the present, Ms. Floyd worked at Transitional Services for Youth and Families in Burlington, helping at-risk youth build self-awareness, develop healthy relationships, and be active citizens.

Ms. Floyd lives in Burlington with her husband William Floyd, who is employed at Spectrum Youth and Family Services.
