Washington, DC - The Journal of Catholic Higher Education, the peer-reviewed publication of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), welcomed Edward Mahoney, Ph.D., as its new associate editor over the summer.

A professor in the religious studies department, Mahoney directed the Graduate Theology and Pastoral Ministry program for 20 years. He is currently the director of the Edmundite Center for Faith and Culture at the college. Earlier this year, he received the Called and Gifted Award from the Association of Graduate Programs in Ministry, as well as the Faculty Service Award from Saint Michael's in 2011. He has taught at the college since 1976.

With the Journal of Catholic Higher Education, Mahoney will work with authors to produce pioneering articles on critical topics. He is also responsible for managing the editorial process, from acceptance of new manuscripts through peer review to publication.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as associate editor of the journal," he said. "I look forward to working with scholars from around the country in bringing their innovative, compelling, and valuable research to the broader academic community at Catholic colleges and universities."

Mahoney earned his doctorate from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, with a concentration in moral theology and medical ethics. He has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Palliative Care and been a consultant to ethics advisory committees at hospitals in Vermont. He can be reached at jche@accunet.org.
