Heather J. Ellis-Lynch, Sustainability Coordinator

Heather J. Ellis-Lynch joined Saint Michael's in July 2008 as our first Sustainability Coordinator. Heather facilitates the development of strategies for incorporating environmental sustainability into the academic, residential and operational activities of Saint Micahel's College. In addition to running the Office of Sustainability, she manages the college's Organic Garden, Recycling Program, advises Green Up, our student environmental club, collaborates with community organizations, works closely with the Environmental Studies major and much more. She's also our single point of contact on environmental sustainability topics and activities.

Heather has been in the sustainability field since her undergrad days at the University of New Hampshire, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Conservation with a concentration in Environmental Affairs in May 2007. Interested in how institutions of higher education were playing a role in reducing their impact on the environment, she worked as the Campus Climate Intern at Clean Air--Cool Planet, the Northeast's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to finding and promoting solutions to global warming. Before joining the community at St. Mike's, Heather spent a year in Durango, Colorado, as the Environmental Center Intern at Fort Lewis College. There, among other things, she organized the campus community around environmental action and fostered dialogue on how to create the college's first Sustainability Action Plan.
