This schedule changes often so we invite you to check back regularly. With the help of our alumni and parent volunteers, the Office of Alumni and Family Relations plans between 50-60 events over the course of the year, including regional and on campus events. Sept. 27 Beer Tasting at Back East Brewery in Bloomfield, CT. Join Tony '00 and Shannon Karlowicz '00
as they celebrate their brewery's five-year anniversary with a tasting just for SMC alumni,
parents and friends. 6-8 p.m.
Sept 29 Book Launch for Susan Ouellette. The History Department will celebrate the launch of Susan
Ouellette's book "An Extraordinary Ordinary Woman." Join us from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Farrell
Room for light refreshments and conversation, Susan will speak about her research.
Oct. 9 Red Sneakers for Oakley Day. Join us from wherever you are as we raise awareness of life-
threatening food allergies by wearing red sneakers, red socks or red shoelaces in honor of
Oakley Debbs. Oakley, the son of alumnus Bobby Debbs '87, died in November 2016 from
anaphylaxis resulting from an allergic reaction to nuts. There will be on campus programming
dedicated to educating our community on food allergies, including information on epi pen
access for rescue workers, and a demonstration on how to use epi pen injectors and more.
