Alumni Profile

Jack Russell

I began my career as an English teacher and basketball coach at Missisquoi Valley Union High School in Swanton, VT and simultaneously was working on my Master's Degree in Education. One year later I obtained a real estate license and began working full time in construction and real estate always thinking I would get a "real job" again in education. My wife, Lynn and I started our own company (later known as' Century 21 Jack Associates") in 1972, now a full service real estate and property management company with 10 locations in Vermont, which we still own and operate.

What did you appreciate the most about Saint Michael's?

The people and the environment presented an opportunity to develop emotional maturity as well as the ability to think for myself. (e.g. not what to think but how to think)

What advice would you give new Saint Michael's students?

Appreciate all that the St. Michael's College experience has given you and keeps giving you if you are open to it, then give some back so that others may benefit as you have. The "givers" make the environment all that it is, and all that it can be. I am proud to associate myself with an institution whose students and faculty keep giving to others and  have made and continue to make positive contributions throughout the world.

What else would you like students and alumni to know about you?

I look positively at life and see everyday as a new opportunity.

What year did you graduate?

1970.

Please tell us what motivates you to give.
