I am a specialist in European philosophy from the 19th century to the present (especially Heidegger and Nietzsche). I am also interested in the thought of Spinoza, Plotinus and Emerson.

An introductory course focusing on freedom, desire, and philosophy as a way of life.
I wrote "Proximity in Distance: Levinas and Plotinus," in Levinas and the Ancients (Indiana University Press, 2008). I have a forthcoming article on Spinoza and am currently writing on the non-identifiable aspect of our self and the world.
Life Off Campus:
I enjoy art exhibits, exercise and travel. I live in Paris when the College is not in session.
