Kate Floyd is the assistant director of MOVE, working with student leaders and overseeing coordination and implementation of the Extended Service Program.
"I see MOVE as home. I love working with college students; I wanted to do beautiful hands-on social justice work. With MOVE, we work with people, not for people," she says.
Kate graduated from Saint Michael's in 2006 majoring in Spanish and minoring in Global Studies.
She was a volunteer with AmeriCorps in Alamosa, Colorado, in 2006-07, and was the only bilingual staff member in the group. She was Volunteer Coordinator & AmeriCorps Program Director at the La Puente Home from 2008-09, where she also recruited and managed 15 full-time AmeriCorps volunteers. She worked closely with the migrant farm-worker population in the area, focusing on homelessness outreach and prevention.
