What’s your favorite class at St. Mike’s?

Introduction to Philosophy with Dr. John Izzi. I had never studied philosophy before, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I really enjoyed reading about different philosophers and their ideas on reality.

What is the one thing you wished you DIDN’T pack your first-year? Or, what is one thing you recommend that first-year students pack that they might not have thought of?

Every student should bring duct tape. One roll goes a long way and it has many uses in and out of the dorm.

What's a fun fact about St. Mike’s that a first-year student should know?

Every Friday and Saturday night from 11pm to 1am, there is a cookout in the quad. It’s the best thing to have for college students with the late-night munchies.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the basement of the library. They have these cell type rooms that are very quiet and are great places to get some work done.

What is one thing you’ve learned at St. Mike’s (in or out of the classroom) that surprised you?

With a strong sense of community at St. Mike’s, it was easier to make friends than I was expecting. One of my worries about going to college was that I was not going to have a solid group of friends. But getting involved and not sitting around in my dorm dispelled those fears immediately. There are so many on campus groups to take part in, and they are great ways to meet new people.
