What's your favorite spot on-campus?

The quad in the center of the academic buildings.

What's one thing you've learned at SMC that's been surprising or inspiring?

A professor of mine shared this quote in class one day and it has stuck with me as a reminder to make the most of my short college experience: "Stare. It is the way to educate your eyes and more. Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long." -Walker Evans

In what ways do you engage or give back to the community?

I volunteer as a mentor and coordinator of the DREAM mentoring program weekly. I traveled to Immokalee, Florida for a week of volunteer work as part of a MOVE service trip. I volunteer at a local dog shelter and I referee local middle and high school girls’ field hockey.

What do you want to do with your life?

I want to be a reading specialist for elementary aged children and help struggling readers succeed.

20 years from now, what do you think a favorite college memory will be?

During my sophomore year my friends and I would cook dinner together every Sunday night. We would set aside homework and cell phones for a few hours and just spend time together cooking and eating. It was a time I always looked forward to!

What makes you happy?

Being surrounded by the friends that have become a second family at SMC.
