What do you like about St. Mike's?
Everyone's so nice here! Everyone you see is smiling or saying hi, and I like that. It's one of the reasons I decided to come here.
What's your favorite class?
My first-year seminar. It only had 11 students, which I'd never experienced before, coming from a huge public school.
What's your favorite spot on-campus?
Sitting on the rocks across the street from main campus. There's such a beautiful open view of Camel's Hump and Mount Mansfield.
What's one thing you've learned at SMC that's been surprising?
I was scared about finding friends, and it was surprisingly easy. Now I have a nice network of friends, many of them right on Lyons fourth floor, where I live. Doing those stairs is my exercise for the day. The last flight is a killer but you know you're almost home!
In what ways do you engage or give back to the community?
I go to the Lund Family Center through MOVE. I love working with all the little kids. I'm also part of the Celtic Knight Irish step-dancers. I've been doing that since I was a kid so I was really excited they had a group, and we got to perform at the International Festival.
What do you think you want to do with your life?
I want to be a high school biology/anatomy teacher. I have determined that bugs are not my thing. I'm more into the genes and molecular biology.
What makes you happy?
Ice cream! Any time there's mint ice cream in the cafeteria, I get so excited - it's the best day! Also being with friends and family and just having a good time without worries. I treasure little moments. Sometimes people focus way too much on the negative; if you just push it aside, you'll be so much happier.
