Gabbi Hall '13

Media Studies and Digital Arts major

Gabbi Hall '13 is a Media Studies/Journalism/Digital Arts major from Incline Village, NV. She has pipes to go along with her on-piste abilities, as she is a member of the Alpine Ski Team and the AcaBellas, and can be found doodling, picking out outfits and writing articles in the Defender in her spare time. She has skied in eight different countries, is a three-time California state trampoline champion, and loves Saint Mike's because "it has given me the tools to be the best 'me' possible."

What's your favorite class at St. Mike's?

This semester, it's Media Law and Ethics in the Digital Age. Professor Griffith has so much passion for law and no topic is off-limits in regards to our rights as journalists.

What is the one thing you wished you DIDN'T pack your first-year? Or, what is one thing you recommend that first-year students pack that they might not have thought of?

Don’t bring all of your winter clothes in September. Keep a winter jacket and a pair of Uggs or other winter shoes around in the event that we get early snow, but having all your gear will take up a lot of space.

What's a fun fact about St. Mike's that a first-year student should know?

Professor Mindich (MJD department) was once a DJ in London. Bottom line: our professors are really cool!

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

McCarthy Arts Center. I love going into the music rooms and playing the piano (or attempting to) and singing. It’s just a fun stress-reliever.

What is one thing you've learned at St. Mike's (in or out of the classroom) that surprised you?

I've learned that I have something special to offer. I know things that others don't (and vice versa) and my opinion matters. I change one person’s perspective or I can change the world. Saint Michael's has given me that strength.
