What do you like about St. Mike's?
I was introduced to the school by my father, Raymond Mazzoleni '78. The first thing I liked was the community and how pretty the campus was. I also like how diverse and extensive the programs are. And I like the Burlington area.
What's your favorite class?
My first-year seminar, "The Examined Life." We had only 13 in the class, so we became close. The class was very philosophical and taught me a lot about myself.
Do you have a favorite professor?
Tracy Griffith in Media Studies. She teaches with such great passion. She has background as a lawyer, and she teaches in a way that you can't help but get involved in discussions.
What's your favorite spot on-campus?
My room, because I made it into my own home with pictures of friends from home and from school. I love having people over.
What's one thing you've learned at SMC that's been surprising or inspiring?
How quickly you find yourself adapting and changing.
In what ways do you engage or give back to the community?
I'm involved in Founder's Society, plus I'm a student blogger and a tour guide. I'm also a DJ for WWPV and on the e-board for that. I do my show with another blogger, Brendan. We talk and have a playlist and try to be funny. And I'm president of the suites for the Student Association.
Have you had an internship?
I just wrapped up a month-long experience with Burzt TV in Montpelier, a company that provides videos about issues like the Citizens United decision or health care reform. I'm interested in politics, so that was such good experience. Next spring I've set something up with Vermont Public Television to do a community engagement internship, which revolves around marketing and PR.
What do you do in your spare time?
I'm that person who blows up the DVR recording TV shows. I watch a lot of TV. I love Glee, American Horror Stories, Vampire Diaries - cliché teen stuff. I like just hanging out with my friends too, or spontaneous adventures. I try to work out a lot and I play intramural soccer and tennis.
What do you think you want to do with your life?
My dream job is to be a TV show writer.
What makes you happy?
Just knowing I'm doing something right for myself or for anybody else.
