What do you like about St. Mike's?
People care about what they're doing, care about what you're doing, and want to see you succeed. "Why I love St Mike's" is a continuing daily thing.
What's your favorite class?
Intro to Ecology and Evolution with Doug Facey. It was my first class at St. Mike's ever and it reaffirmed I was doing what I wanted to do. You know when you're unsure if it’s the right thing? I walked into the class and thought , "This is why I'm a biology major."
Do you have a favorite professor?
Declan McCabe. He's brilliant and so approachable. And he really cares. He's willing to go the extra mile to make things happen for you.
What's your favorite spot on campus?
I like the children's reading room in the library. You get a good view of campus from there and it's especially pretty when there's snow.
I really love the waterfront downtown by the ECHO center. You have the swing benches, wonderful views of the water, you have the ECHO, which I love to go to. And Skinny Pancake. So the waterfront is ideal.
What's one thing you've learned at St. Mike's that's been surprising or inspiring?
I've learned how everything is important and interconnected, and I've developed an appreciation for the smallest slime mold all the way up to the bigger picture, biodiversity, and how we fit into that.
How do you involved in the community?
I'm a co-secretary of programming for the Student Association. I'm involved with MOVE as a member of the special events core team. I'm also a tour guide, in the Honors Program, and part of the LEAP community on campus and the Science Club.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like going to Church Street and catching a movie. Snowboarding at Smuggs on the weekends. I like to read a lot, too. Jane Austen is my favorite author and Wuthering Heights is my favorite book.
20 years from now, what do you think a favorite college memory will be?
A continuous implementation of what I'll learn here.
What makes you happy?
Living a life that I'm proud of. Doing the things that I love with the people that I love. As an individual, that's how it's going to be. But St. Mike's enhances that. I'm proud of what I'm involved with and what I've accomplished here.
