Summer Day Camp
Summertime fun, in a friendly, non-competitive, creative environment, for children ages five through nine.
The Early Learning Center at Saint Michael’s College hosts a summer day camp for children on Saint Michael’s historic north campus in Fort Ethan Allen. The professional staff is committed to providing children ages five through nine with a safe and fun environment and will offer a variety of developmentally appropriate, exciting and enjoyable activities and high quality care.
Our camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., providing all-day summer education and enjoyment.
The Summer Day Camp program balances active outdoor activities, social and creative play, arts and crafts and reading. Campers also have supervised use of the Saint Michael’s College swimming pool and receive swimming instruction appropriate to their ability. The camp is adjacent to large outdoor playing fields at Fort Ethan Allen and campers go on a variety of walks and hikes around the fort and Saint Michael’s main campus. The indoor space is oriented for small group activities, projects and arts and crafts. There are approximately 20 campers per week and two counselors.
Field trips are planned for once per week and have included visits to museums, area parks, libraries, historic sites, as well as local attractions such as the ECHO Center and Shelburne Museum.
The camp’s philosophy is to encourage children to play together, not against each other, allowing children to succeed, regardless of their skill level. Each day’s activities might include crafts, imaginative play and drama, reading, swimming, music, outdoor sports and games and stretching and tumbling.
The camp session runs from the middle of June through the middle of August. We require a one-week deposit which must accompany the enrollment form. Enrollment forms are accepted until camp is full. The deposit will be refunded only if camp is full and therefore your child’s application cannot not be accepted.
