The College provides two plan options through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. The Vermont Health Partnership (VHP) is a managed care plan that requires the selection of a primary care physician who will coordinate any specialized healthcare needs. Employees covered by this plan must stay within the network to receive coverage. The Vermont Freedom Plan (VFP) is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) that provides the flexibility to use in-network providers but also allows the use of out-of-network providers at a reduced benefit amount.

    Both plans also provide a three-tiered prescription drug program that has lower co-pays for use of generic drugs.  There is also a money saving mail order option.  Please refer to the RX Center at www.bcbsvt.com for additional information.

    The healthcare plan year is from January 1 to December 31 of each year.

    Eligibility

    An employee who is scheduled to work a minimum of 32 hours per week for a minimum of 40 weeks per year is considered eligible for benefits. Employees are eligible for healthcare coverage beginning on the first of the month following their date of hire.
