Biology

Biology is an exciting and rapidly expanding field with great opportunities for the future.  At Saint Michael's College, the combination of the Biology major with the intellectual breadth of the college's liberal arts curriculum prepares students for entry into graduate study, healthcare professional schools, and the workforce of today and the future.

LabThrough selection of a particular track of courses within the Biology major, students can focus on one of the following areas:
Pre-Healthcare Career, Environmental Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biology Education, or students can create their own selection of courses.

Our diverse courses emphasize hands-on learning, with active laboratory and field components. In addition, BI 205 (Biological Reading and Writing) and BI 410 (Biology Senior Seminar) emphasize the use of professional literature and the development of effective writing and speaking skills, which also are reinforced in our other courses. All of our courses, including the labs, are taught by faculty, so you will have the benefit of working closely with faculty throughout the program. Our faculty also maintain active research programs that provide research opportunities for interested students during the academic year and during the summer.
