Research Highlight:
Vermont Streams Project

Several Saint Michael's biology students have worked with Professor Declan McCabe on the Vermont Streams Project, a National Science Foundation funded, state-wide water quality study.

Professor McCabe’s research team determined how macroinvertebrates can be used as indicators of water quality in local streams.

This research has the potential to affect the management of our state’s waterways and their respective watersheds.

Intern Spotlight

Adrian Cloutier '10
Veterinary medicine

Adrian Cloutier, vet intern

As a Technician Assistant at the Vermont Veterinary Surgical Center, Adrian performed a wide variety of duties.

"I assisted with pre-operative procedures including testing blood samples, taking x-rays, and prepping the patient," he says.

"I also assisted in surgery when the doctor needed a different instrument or some type of assistance. Lastly, I helped with the post-operative duties including monitoring the patient until they woke up, re-sterilizing the equipment, and cleaning the surgery room."
