FAQ

If I live off campus, is there a discounted price?
Tuition for ASC is a bundled price that includes the eight course credits, housing, meals, all course materials and all activities.  Given the immersion aspect of the program and the valuable face-to-face interaction between faculty and fellow students, we strongly believe that being on campus is an integral part of the experience. To that end, we have made the cost of room and board negligible; therefore there is no discount available if you decide to live off-campus.

When does the program run?
The session runs from May 21 – June 30, 2017, giving you over half the summer for employment or your next adventure. To help condense all the material covered, ASC uses a “flipped classroom” model, whereby content traditionally delivered by lecture is accessed by students online outside class hours, so the in-class time is reserved for lively discussion and student interaction.

What is the first day I need to arrive at Saint Michael's College?
There is a required orientation on Sunday, May 21, prior to classes beginning on Monday, May 22. Here, you’ll get to meet other students in the program, learn about various campus services, and be introduced to campus and residence hall policies and procedures. Orientation for ASC is required even if you are already a Saint Michael’s student.
Do I need to buy books for this program?
The Accelerated Summer College is an all-inclusive program in which course material/online books are included, so there will be no other external costs for books.

Are the campus facilities open to summer program students?
Campus facilities will absolutely be open to summer program students. These resources include our Green Mountain Dining Room, Dion Family Student Center, Durick Library, Bergeron Wellness Center, McCathy Arts Center, Chapel of St. Michael, Organic Garden, Ross Sports Center, Tarrant Recreation Center and others. The hours of each facility will be made available during orientation.

What food facilities are available during the summer?
The Green Mountain Dining Room is open daily and serves three meals a day with unlimited servings. Einstein Bros. Bagels, located in the student center, is a great place to pick up coffee, a bagel, other snacks or a sandwich. The hours of each facility will be made available during orientation.

Who teaches these classes?
The Accelerated Summer College is taught by dedicated Saint Michael's faculty who in many cases previously taught in the summer program. View our course catalog list to view faculty bios.

What if I want to take only one course?
Given the proven success of our blended learning model, we encourage all students to strongly consider registering for the full program. With that, we understand that some students would prefer to take one course. The cost of the course is $525.00 per credit which brings the total to $2,100.00.

If I am a Saint Michael's student can I store my belongings in between the end of the spring semester and the start of ASC?
