Supportive Campus Environment
Students perform better and are more satisfied at colleges that are committed to their success and cultivate positive working and social relations among different groups on campus. The 2007 NSSE report indicated that Saint Michael's students find that a strong, supportive atmosphere exists at the college. Of the first-year students who responded to the survey, 93 percent reported a favorable image of Saint Michael's, and 87 percent of the seniors surveyed said they would choose Saint Michael's agan if they could start their college career over.
Overall, the NSSE survey uses the benchmark items listed below to establish its comparison report on campus environment for each of the participating institutions. To the right is a graph depicting how the seniors surveyed at Saint Michael's compare to all NSSE schools on the following criteria:
- Campus environment provides the support you need to help you succeed academically
- Campus environment helps you cope with your non-academic responsibilities (work, family, etc.)
- Campus environment provides the support you need to thrive socially
- Quality of relationships with other students
- Quality of relationships with faculty members
- Quality of relationships with administrative personnel and offices
Saint Michael's is committed to meeting the needs of our students. Our Writing Center on campus offers free help with all forms of writing. Our Tutoring program provides guidance and counseling for studying, and we provide many resources for learning differences and disabilities.
