The Ethan Allen Homestead Museum Lecture Series presents:
"Retired, Much Fatigued: Domestic Labor in the Diary of Phebe Orvis Eastman"
Dr. Susan Ouellette will present on the tasks labeled as "Women's Work" based on some of her research into period diaries. Throughout history, the household was the primary industrial and economic unit. In order for these micro-economics to function, all family members played a critical role and contributed to the household income. Usually the methods in which a family member contributed was determined by gender.
