Under special circumstances, when a course is not offered during a given semester, or when there is an unresolvable scheduling conflict, a student may complete some coursework on an independent basis.
The course name and number must be listed in the college catalog, and the student must have the approval of a faculty sponsor and the department chair. Additionally, a 3.0 minimum quality point average is required.
Requests must be completed by the last day of the course change period. Students first must meet with the Associate Dean of the College before submitting a final proposal for an independent study.
An administrative fee applies for all independent study courses.
