NEW SUDAN EDUCATION INITIATIVE
Title:  INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP

NESEI interns for the Spring 2007 will work primarily on NESEI's outreach program to schools and colleges around the state.  We have the goal of working with 20 new colleges, middle schools and high schools for the 2006-2007 academic year.  American interns will further develop (along with 2 Sudanese interns) a schools program that teaches students about genocide and ethnic cleansing in Sudan and about efforts by the Sudanese diaspora to work for peace in their homeland.  Interns will develop presentation materials, accompany Sudanese into classrooms, help arrange and facilitate presentations and fundraising events.  We have applied for a $15,000 Ben & Jerry's grant to allow us to bring this program to schools and service clubs all over Vermont and to the rest of the country as well.
