As a Saint Michael’s student, you will enjoy the benefits of our dynamic liberal arts curriculum, preparing you for your first job out of college, but more importantly, your entire career.
Here at Saint Michael’s we believe in nurturing intellectual curiosity by way of a curriculum that encourages you to explore. Through exposure to a wide range of academic disciplines, we aim to graduate modern-day intellectuals who aren’t afraid to take risks and think differently.
Here are just a few of the benefits of our liberal studies curriculum:
You will have a solid understanding of all the major disciplines, giving you the building blocks for life as a thoughtful, well-rounded citizen.
We believe that a truly educated person must have a grounding in humanities, social science, religious studies, philosophy, natural science, mathematics and fine arts. Our curriculum gives you the tools to seek out intellectual challenge, appreciate artistic expression and become a lifelong learner.
You will have the breathing room to discover a new passion, or delve deeper into an existing one.
Whether or not you’ve settled on a major, you can look forward to taking a wide variety of courses in your first two years. If you already know what you want to major in, our liberal studies curriculum allows you to pursue courses in your major starting your first semester, while simultaneously exploring the wider curriculum. If you are unsure about a major, you’ll be equally well-served at Saint Michael’s through our Exploratory advising program and an academic schedule shaped by liberal studies courses in the first year. Opportunities to pursue research with a faculty member, an internship or a study abroad experience are plentiful.
You will be a skilled communicator.
Our curriculum’s emphasis on writing skills means Saint Michael’s graduates express themselves well in any professional setting. In addition to taking writing intensive courses, all students are exposed to a foreign language, enabling communication on a global level.
You will feel comfortable assessing the ethical implications of any decision.
Throughout our curriculum, serious attention is paid to questions of ethics and responsible citizenship. Saint Michael’s students are ready to pursue justice for the common good.
