What do you do for a living?
Managing Partner, in the Analytics Practice of Kantar Millward Brown. How did your experience at Saint Michael's help prepare you for your career?
By encouraging me to study issues holistically, challenge assumptions, work through the details, and identify win-win solutions. A faculty truly dedicated to each student's intellectual development helped instill these values in me and set me up for a lifetime of learning - which my career absolutely demands.
What is your favorite memory from your time at St. Mike's?
In my first economics course, Principles of Microeconomics, I distinctly remember having no idea what all the lines on the charts meant or how to use them to answer questions on an exam. The professor (now emeritus), Dr. Carvellas kept drilling the basics home with brilliant examples and an approachable style until everyone - including me - figured it out. When the economic theory finally clicked, I realized: "oh, this is how the world actually works!"
Any advice for St. Mike's students?
Don't be afraid to challenge assumptions, but always listen carefully to the opposing perspective and seek to fully understand it before advocating your view. It will sharpen your thinking and every once in a while change your understanding of the world.
