Wind and Jazz Ensembles

The Wind Ensemble performs concert and symphonic band music that embraces a wide spectrum of windandjazzstyles. The group performs on campus several times each year and each spring tours though out the Northeast.

The Jazz Ensemble performs the music of the big band and swing eras. The group also participates in the spring tour.

Since beginning in 1970, the Wind and Jazz Ensembles have played over 200 concerts.

In recent years, the Wind and Jazz Ensembles have donated their concert proceeds to social causes through the Music for Humanity Program.

Music for Humanity performances have helped raise funds for agencies for the homeless, AIDS research, and hospital equipment; provided for parishes’ special needs and assisted many other causes.

Because Saint Michael’s has a reputation for service to communities throughout the Northeast and because of the response to Music for Humanity, we feel it is only natural that students perform music as a manifestation of humankind’s highest nature, and also to help others. Thus, we provide our students with educational outcomes and the reward of benefiting people at the same time.
