Theatre

ActingThe stage is yours
As a theatre major at Saint Michael's, you may build sets, make costumes, create scenery and props, design work with lighting and sound, act in a variety of productions, and experience stage management. You'll also have a chance to write and direct for shows.

Unique Opportunities
From the Top 10 Facts on Saint Michael's theatre program:

  • Our activities, courses and productions are often driven by student interest and ability.
  • We build every aspect of our shows.
  • Our students perform at regional and national festivals.
  • We own and operate a professional theatre on campus, the Saint Michael’s Playhouse.
  • We have affiliations with professional theatre unions.

Our Shows
We've performed over 80 mainstage shows in the theatre department. See our list of shows dating back to 1962.

It all happens in McCarthy
You’ll learn and perform in the McCarthy Arts Center, home to a theatre, a recital hall, an art gallery, rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and faculty offices.
