Saint Michael's College was a major presence at the Region I American College Theatre Festival held January 27 to February 1 at Fitchburg (Mass.) State College and the Four Points Sheraton in Leominster, Mass. Over 1,100 students from 55 institutions participated in the annual festival. Twenty-eight Saint Michael's students traveled to the week-long conference along with their professor to participate, and attend workshops, productions and seminars led by theater professionals, and four Saint Michael's students were nominated for excellence in acting based on their performances in Saint Michael's productions of "Closer than Ever" in spring 2008 and "The Heiress" in fall 2008.

Josh Bardier
Senior 2010 (Theatre Major)...
After studying this past summer in New York City at Circle in the Square, Josh is thrilled to be entering his senior year. This semester he is stage managing Saint Michael's production of The School for Scandal and will be featured in the directing class presentation of Beyond Therapy. He is also the Vice President of the Drama Club.
With a concentration in musical theatre, Josh takes dance class four times a week while going off campus for private voice and acting lessons as well as tap class. Next semester, Josh will be playing the title role in The Notebook of Trigorin while directing The 25th Annual Putname County Spelling Bee: In Concert. He will also be the teacher assistant for the musical theatre course in the Theatre department. Josh is currently applying to various graduate schools and will be auditioning in the spring for work after college. He hopes to move to New York City within the year to begin his acting career and to continue with conservatory training.
Kate Clark
Senior 2010 (Theatre/EnglishMinor )...
is currently playing Lady Olivia the fall Mainstage called School for Scandal which will be performed at Burlington's own FlynnSpace. She is also currently rehearsing for the role of Nina in our Spring Mainstage, Tenessee Williams' play The Notebook of Trigorin, as well as for the role of Olive Olstrovsky in the Drama Club's production of Spelling Bee. Recently this summer, she participated in NYC's Circle in the Square Summer Theatre Intensive conservatory, as well as several mainstage and club roles from last fall and spring.
Dustin Hunter
Senior 2010 (Elementary Education/Theatre)...
Dustin has just returned from spending a semester abroad in Bath, England. While abroad he interned in the Education department of Theatre Royal Bath's children's theatre; the egg, where he got the opportunity to teach theatre to children in a classroom, produce and direct christmas shows and work with the american equivalent of high school seniors on their capstone theatre pieces. He is currently planning for his senior seminar in theatre where he will work with a school in burlington to produce and direct a show that will be performed on the SMC Stage in April of 2009.
Laura Michelle
Senior 2010 (Theatre Major)...
is currently working toward her senior production of Almost Maine, in which she will play Glory, Marvalyn, Marci, and Rhonda. Other performance credits include roles in: As You Like It, Lives of the Great Waitresses, The Laramie Project, as well as a role in the award-winning ensemble of The Heiress. She was also recently partner to the 1st Alternate in the Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region, 1. Laura has appeared in Disney’s College Road Trip, as well as the documentary Our Plastic Footprint, which will premier at the Vermont International Film Festival in late October.
Laura is also fortunate enough to have learned a great deal about lighting as St. Michael’s, having designed As You Like It, Henry V, Spring Awakening and the dance team’s concert performances. She spent two summers at St. Michael’s Playhouse working as a Production Intern, with a focus on electrics. Laura hopes to pursue acting in a graduate or conservatory program, but is very grateful that St. Michael’s gives her the opportunity to explore several aspects of theatre at a very challenging level.
Brendan O’Leary
Senior 2010 (Theatre, Psychology Major)...
is currently the President of the Drama Club at Saint Michael's College. In the spring he will play the role of Constantine in The Notebook of Trigorin. Of the many plays and projects Brendan has been a part of in his four years, he is most fond of playing Judas/John the Baptist in Godspell his freshmen year and giving playwriting a go with his senior seminar project Professor Wellright’s Library. Brendan will graduate at the end of this year with a double-major in Psychology and Theatre and plans to live and work in the Burlington area after graduation.
Krista Tunnell
Senior 2010 (Theatre/English Minor, Honors Student)...
She is currently playing the role of Lady Sneerwell in School for Scandal. Last year she played the Chorus in Shakespeare's Henry V and assistant stage managing the spring Main Stage Show, Professor Wellright's Library. Krista recently returned to St. Michael's from studying abroad in London last fall.
Julia C. Watson
Senior 2010 (Theatre/Psychology Majors)...
She is currently playing the role of Madame Arkadina in The Notebook of Trigorin. Julia first started theatre in high school, premiering in Guys and Dolls. A long line of shows later, we find her as Queen Diana Decimal in Professor Wellright's Library at Saint Michael's College. Other Saint Michael’s roles include Elizabeth Almond in The Heiress, and singing “Miss Bird” in Closer Than Ever. She is also currently working on two Vermont independent films: Reap by Michael Fisher and Breaking the Fall by David Metzger—set to shoot this summer. Julia will be walking in The Breast Cancer 3-Day last July in Boston in a team with three other Saint Mike’s students.
