International students who score 550 or better on the TOEFL exam (or its equivalent) may apply directly to an undergraduate program to begin pursing a Bachelor's Degree.
To apply, students should download, complete and submit the International Undergraduate Student Application form. Applicants are also required to submit the following materials:
English-Language Test Scores
Saint Michael’s accepts TOEFL as well as IELTS results.
The code for sending TOEFL results to Saint Michael’s College is: 3757.
If you score less than 550 on your TOEFL (paper-based), your application will automatically be considered for conditional admittance and forwarded to the English-Language Programs.
A much simpler option: You may also choose to complete the application for an English-Language program, and indicate you are interested in applying for a Bachelor’s Degree Program when your English is at a suitable level.
Standardized Test Scores
SAT Results are NOT required if English is not your native language. Of course, we will accept SAT results if you are able to take this test and wish to submit the scores.
Essay
The essay helps us to become acquainted with you in ways different from test scores, grades, and other objective data. It is your opportunity to share with us your interests and values as well as to demonstrate your ability to organize your thoughts and express yourself.
Recommendation
A teacher, professor or other adult person who knows you well in an academic environment should complete a recommendation for you. They may use the form provided within the International Undergraduate Student Application, or they may write their own letter as long as it includes the following information:
Transcripts
We require an official copy of your secondary school transcripts.
Certification of Finances
US Visa Regulations state we must receive a copy of a bank statement indicating you have access to sufficient funds to study at Saint Michael’s for the length of your program, or one year, whichever is shorter. If the referenced bank account is in the name of someone other than the student, that person must sign as financial sponsor on the application form, or submit a letter or affidavit of support.
Copy of Passport
Send the photo page of your valid passport.
Housing Application
You do not need to fill out a separate housing application. All international students receive housing in a student residence. All meals are included.
Application Fee
Not required for students enrolling from outside the United States. For students applying from the United States: $50.
Transfer Students
A transfer student is someone who is already enrolled in a university and does not wish to begin Saint Michael’s at the beginning. Transfer applicants must provide university transcripts from your current institution.
What Happens Next?
Once you have submitted your application and supporting materials, it will be forwarded to the Admission Committee for consideration. We will contact you should we have any questions or require additional materials. Within three weeks of receiving the application, we expect to be able to provide you with a preliminary response.
If your application is successful, we will send you an official acceptance letter and ask you to provide a partially-refundable deposit. Upon receipt of this deposit, we will send you the I-20 Form. This form, the acceptance letter, and financial documents will enable you to apply for and receive a Student Visa at the US Embassy or Consulate in your country.
