A:
Within the Liberal Studies Curriculum requirements, all students regardless of their major, must complete the following course work:
- 2 courses in Religious Studies
- 2 courses in Philosophy
- 3 courses in Social Sciences and Organizational Studies
- 2 courses in Natural and Mathematical sciences
- 3 courses in Humanities
- 3 credits in Literary Studies
- 3 credits in Historical Studies
- 3 credits in Culture and Civilization
- 2 credits in Artistic Experience
- Demonstration of Writing Proficiency- 2 writing intensive courses
- Demonstration of Second Language Proficiency*
(All courses are one semester in length.)
* Students take a proficiency exam prior to entering Saint Michael's. The score determines a student’s placement in a language. Some students can also use the exam to place out of the language requirement. Proficiency is generally achieved in 2 semesters of a language.
