Saint Michael’s College is sponsoring an exhibit of photographs, called “World Leaders,” taken by U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, who is a 1961 graduate of Saint Michael’s. The photographs, taken in Washington, Vermont and around the world, will be on display in the McCarthy Arts Center gallery from March 24 to 31. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. An opening reception will be held Friday, March 24, at 4 p.m. in the gallery. Call 654-2211 for information.

About a photography exhibit documenting Watergate, Senator Leahy said: “To understand history, start with the pictures. Historians will write the chronicle of this century, but photography will help bring that chronicle to life for eons to come.  No matter how many words are written about the Hindenberg, or the landing at Iwo Jima, or John Kennedy Jr., we remember the photographs. And no matter how many words are written about the figures of the Nixon White House or the personal conflicts of Watergate, they won't be understood without seeing the faces of the people.”
