Title:
Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Theatre
Education:
B.A. Saint Mary's College; M.F.A. University of Minnesota
Areas of Expertise/Research Interests:
Acting, directing, training for musical theatre and playwriting.
Testimonial:
In our Theatre program students have an impact on how we develop the academic curriculum, how we select our mainstage production season, and how we develop as a socially conscious artistic community. We encourage our majors to exceed their own expectations and take creative risks that will help them grow as individuals, scholars and artists.
What do you like most about teaching/working at Saint Michael's College?
I love teaching here because the students are extraordinary.
What is your favorite class to teach, and why?
While I enjoy teaching acting and directing, my favorite class to teach is Singing for the Actor. In this course, singers focus on how to express a character vocally, physically or emotionally through music. Students discover how to sing with artistic expression as they apply different stylistic acting approaches to standard Broadway repertoire. It’s a great class for majors and non-majors alike, and it doesn’t matter if a student is a trained singer or a beginner.
