What do you like most about teaching/working at Saint Michael's College?
Students at Saint Michael's vary in intensity of involvement and interest. Each semester in every course one finds with delight that some of our students do catch fire and do truly enjoy the educational opportunities our academic life here offers them. This phenomenon makes teaching at Saint Micheal's a joy.
What do you like about Saint Michael's students?
The vast majority of my students are honest, direct and ready to work.
What is your favorite class to teach, and why?
I derive acute delight from courses in both Latin and Greek because of the fine points of grammar and reference to life in antiquity in which those who lived then express themselves and describe their world in their own words.
What kinds of unique opportunities are available to students in your classes or department?
Exercising the mind through disciplined involvement in dealing with rather precise languages certainly allows for mental advancement. Comparing human activities, thoughts, and emotions in a variety of literary contexts makes one actively consider life's meanings. Travel to sites in Italy and Greece further enhances one's perspectives.
