Testimonial:
I would be happy to give any prospective theatre student a tour of the McCarthy Arts Center, have you sit in on my classes or rehearsals, see a show, and introduce you to Saint Michael's College students who can answer your questions.
What do you like most about teaching/working at Saint Michael's College?
As a student at the College, in addition to the knowledge and experiences I gained, I learned what it was like to function in a true community. It is an honor to be back here teaching, and trying to create and instill that sense of community in current and future students.
What do you like about Saint Michael's students?
The energy they have, openness to new ideas, and willingness to take a chance on Theatre and many other campus pursuits.
What is your favorite class to teach, and why?
My favorite class to teach is TH 162 - Theatre Lab: Costuming - which a lot of non-majors take to fulfill the Artistic Experience requirement. In the first few weeks, students learn concepts of costume design and some basic sewing skills. And then they dive in and start making the costumes for the major show we are producing that semester. There is always at least one person who says - and probably others who are thinking - "he wants us to make WHAT????" But as the weeks go by, we are able to accomplish amazing things that the students are very proud to see on stage.
