What do you like most about teaching/working at Saint Michael's College?
I like the fact that my students and I have a truly meaningful student-teacher relationship. They know me and I know them. I can contact a student personally and let them know that I care about their understanding of the subject and that their success really matters to me. This personal interaction could never happen in a large school setting.
What do you like about Saint Michael's students?
Students at Saint Michael's, particularly after their first year, really begin to understand the importance of a participatory process of learning. They take their learning and my commitment to their learning, seriously.
What is your favorite class to teach, and why?
My courses on Development and Poverty and Senior Seminar in economics. I love teaching courses that stem from in my areas of research. I also thoroughly enjoy being involved in the Global Studies program. Senior Seminar is wonderful because you get to see how much students have grown through their experience in college and as majors in our department.
