Program: Theater/Psychology

Hometown: Lyndonville, VT

Testimonial: Saint Michael's is large enough to provide opportunities and some healthy competition, yet small enough for students to be involved and receive personal attention.

Why did you decide to come to Saint Michael's? I transferred from Drew University in New Jersey after my first year. I'm from Vermont, and I wanted to return to New England. It was a private, spring stroll around the Saint Michael's campus that sold me. I felt at home.

What's it like to live in Burlington, Vermont? What makes Burlington different is that it's small enough to not be intimidating, and with Lake Champlain and Mount Mansfield, you don't give up nature to be here. My friends and I love to take advantage of the city, and we often plan trips to do things like go to the movies or out to dinner.

What was a favorite class at Saint Michael's? So far my favorite is Shakespeare with Professor Clary. We studied seven plays, and saw two professional performances. Professor Clary is a recognized Shakespearean scholar, but he's always open to discussion and he considers student opinions and ideas. He feels a personal responsibility to his students, and his investment is inspiring.

What do you like to do outside of the classroom? I love performing and participating in the theater. The Culture Club and Cultural Pass at Saint Michael's are great ways to see professional theater, dance, and music in Burlington. I also volunteer with the MOVE Office (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts) at the Humane Society.

What do you plan to do after graduation? I plan on going to graduate school for psychology in New York City. I want to study psychology in a place where I can also indulge in theater.
