Testimonial:
At Saint Michael's, I love how everyone constantly wants to meet new people, no matter his/her age or major! Also, there are always fun events on campus or downtown Burlington. I truly believe that most every Saint Michael's student I know enjoys being a part of this campus community.
Why did you decide to come to Saint Michael's?
I chose Saint Michael's because when I visited the campus, I knew it was the place for me. Everyone was friendly and welcoming! I appreciated how the professors were interested in talking to me. I also felt as though I would be able to get involved with the community at Saint Mike's. I had been very involved with sports and student government in high school and I felt that I could continue those programs at the college level through Saint Michael's.
What was a favorite class at Saint Michael's?
Schools and Society. We were able to observe an elementary school classroom once a week and apply everything that we had learned. We also discussed different issues that we might face as future teachers and ways to incorporate controversial topics into lesson plans. Many of the issues that we discussed I had never been exposed to, so it was a great way to be introduced into the education world.
What do you like to do outside of the classroom?
I play lacrosse, and serve as the Class of 2011 Treasurer. I am involved with the Founders Society (student ambassador program) and with the MOVE program (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts). I will also be one of the Orientation leaders welcoming the Fall 2009 incoming class.
What would you say to prospective students considering Saint Michael's College?
My advice would be to attend a retreat during the summer before your first year, such as the
POW retreat
(Pre-Orientation Weekend) or the
WOW retreat (Wilderness Orientation Week). I went on POW and it was a great way to meet more students before even getting to campus in August!
