I've been a librarian at Saint Michael's since 1996.  Before coming to Vermont, I was a librarian at Indiana University, and a public librarian at urban libraries in Indianapolis, Indiana and Columbus, Ohio.

I am responsible for collection management and acquisitions at the Library.  I am particularly interested in usage-driven and patron-driven collection development. I am currently working on an ongoing project to transform library student jobs into high impact practices.

Recent presentations:

Presented "More Than Just a Job: Creating Advancement Opportunities for Library Student Workers" with Anthony Bassignani. Vermont College & Special Libraries Conference. Castleton, VT: October 21, 2016.

Presented “Snap, Tag, Share: Instagram Your Library” pecha kucha.  Charleston Conference on Issues in Book and Serial Acquisition.  Charleston, SC:  November 6, 2015.

Presented “Picture This:  Using Instagram to Promote Your Library” pecha kucha with Kristen Hindes.  Vermont Library Conference.  Burlington, VT:  May 19, 2015.

Presented "The Future is On Demand." New England Library Conference.  Burlington, VT:  October 3, 2011.

Presented "Libraries and eBook Readers" with Virgil Fuller.  Vermont Library Conference.  Colchester, VT:  May 24, 2011.

Presented "Reality is What You Make It:  Collection Management in Two Vermont Academic Libraries" with Ben Johnson, Vermont Technical College.  Vermont Library Conference.  Colchester, VT:  May 25, 2010.

Interests:

In my free time I spend time in the sun, listen to country music, raise two sons with my wife Sandra and walk in the woods with our labradoodle and bichon frise.

I  volunteer at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility helping to facilitate the Storybook project (a project of the Lund Family Center's Kids-a-Part program): incarcerated moms select children's books and make recordings of themselves reading the books aloud.  The books and the recordings are sent as gifts to their children.

I am currently reading Harley Loco: A Memoir of Hard Living, Hair, and Post-Punk From the Middle East to the Lower East Side by Rayya Elias and The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson.
