Student Teaching Internship
Your road to obtaining Initial Teacher Licensure at Saint Michael’s includes conducting an Internship, commonly referred to as Student Teaching. As a Student Teacher, you will obtain real life experience as you assume the full roles and responsibilities of a licensed teacher.
This stage of the Graduate Education program is completed while concurrently taking the Student Teaching Seminar. In addition, this is the time in your program where your portfolio is finalized.
You must apply for your Internship during the month of November a year in advance of your desired start date. For example, if you plan on doing your Internship in the fall term of 2016 or the spring term of 2017, you need to apply for student teaching in November 2015. You are placed in a school with careful consideration of the area in which you are being licensed.
