Middle Level

Saint Michael’s College Graduate Programs in Education has an approved program that leads to licensing as a middle school teacher, grades 5-9.

Prerequisites for Admission to Middle Level Licensure Program (Grades 5-9)

  1. A bachelor’s degree with a major or equivalent in a Liberal Arts and Sciences area, with appropriate Liberal Arts general education courses.
  2. Mastery level in appropriate area(s) to be licensed.
  3. Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0, and a GPA of 3.0 in the content areas.
  4. Evidence of successful work experience with children.
  5. Successful completion of the entrance interview.

Program Requirements

There are 10 courses for a total of 31 credits that you will need to take for the Middle Level Licensure Program. These courses with their corresponding course descriptions are listed in our Graduate Catalogue under Licensure: Middle Level Education.
